Cabo de Palos – Islas Hormigas Marine Reserve
Created in 1995, the reserve protects rocky seamounts rising from over 60 m, meadows of posidonia oceanica and a density of life — grouper, barracuda, eagle rays — that explains its recurring place among Europe's great diving destinations. Its waters hold the underwater heritage of the Sirio (1906) and other steamships lost off the cape.

Local warning
In July and August the integral reserve's quotas sell out: book dives weeks ahead. And always plan with the wind forecast, not just the sunshine one.
