Getting to Cabo de Palos

Modernist facade of Cartagena railway station
Cartagena station (1903): modernism arrived by train too

By plane

Either way, a hire car is the practical answer: this is a destination of short radial excursions.

By car

From the A-7/AP-7, take the La Manga branch (RM-12) and the Cabo de Palos exit. From Cartagena, ~28 km (~30 min) via N-332/RM-12.

Seasonal warning: in July and August, and on June and September weekends, the RM-12 towards La Manga builds queues at midday and sunset, and parking in Cabo de Palos village saturates between 11:00 and 19:00. The local strategy: arrive early, park once and move on foot — the whole village is walkable.

By public transport

A bus line links Cartagena with Cabo de Palos / La Manga, with frequencies that change by season (reinforced in summer, reduced in winter). We deliberately publish no timetable because it would go stale: always check the operator's official site before travelling. Reaching the village from the airports by public transport means connecting via Cartagena or Murcia; with luggage, a transfer or hire car clearly wins.
