Mar Menor and La Manga
Europe's largest saltwater lagoon, separated from the Mediterranean by the sand bar of La Manga: water 2–4 °C warmer than the open sea, no waves, and a bottom that deepens very slowly. The natural setting for families with small children and for light watersports — sailing, kayak, paddle. On its shore, the Marchamalo salt flats between Cabo de Palos and La Manga gather flamingos in extraordinary sunset light.
